Gurgaon, Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha National Park, Pench National Park, Mumbai / The Ultimate Tiger Trail

Discover the wild heart of India where, like the inimitable stripes upon a tiger’s back, no two days are the same.

Three of India’s most eminent National Parks form the basis of your journey into tiger territory; starting with an overnight stay in Gurgaon before making your way to the central state of Madhya Pradesh, where nights within riverside tent suites and hidden jungle lodges place you in one of the country’s most tiger dense regions – there is now a new generation of these magnificent animals as the population of tigers in India has increased by 33% since 2014. The peaks of the Vindhya hills foretell of your arrival in Bandhavgarh National Park where a cornucopia of birdlife inhabit every rocky crag and towering tree, all to be explored during game drives through the diverse landscape.

Entering the land that inspired the beloved tale of ‘The Jungle Book’, Kanha and the neighbouring Pench National Parks boast a wealth of characters featured in Rudyard Kipling’s novel; monkeys, swap deer, pythons and elephants take centre stage amidst the vast diorama as you traverse the untamed wilderness in search of Shere Khan himself on daily game drives from dawn until dusk.

Please note: all parks are closed from 30 June – 01 October.

Due to movement patterns, we recommend the best time for this itinerary is the end of March – April and November for the highest possible chance of seeing the tigers.

Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh National Park

Fly to the state of Madhya Pradesh where a drive from the city of Jabalpur to Bandhavgarh National Park will begin your tiger trail. Declared a National Park in 1968, Bandhavgarh, meaning ‘brother fort’, takes its name from an ancient fort that stands upon the Vindhya hills that rise above the trees. Home to the densest population of tigers in the region, the tawny forest floor of the former royal hunting grounds was once roamed by the regal white Bengal tiger, Mohan; said to be the father of all captive white tigers. Although no white tigers have been recorded in the wild, the rich biodiversity of the park makes for abundant sightings of other creatures as you embark on game drives seeking to glimpse the flame and ebony coat of India’s iconic big cat.
